We are delighted to say we are now open again and look forward to seeing you all soon. We are open Monday – Saturday 10 am – 4 pm.
Sorry we are closed
The safety of our staff and customers is our priority. We are unable to practice the Governments advice of social distancing within the shop environment, and so The Malt Kiln will be closed for an initial period of 2 weeks from 23 March 2020. We will review the situation periodically and follow best practise as the situation develops.
This has been a difficult decision, but we believe now is the correct time to implement it.
Please be assured none of our staff have Covid-19 and they have not been in contact with anyone who has.
We thank all our customers for their support and loyalty. Please, stay safe, and look after yourself and your loved ones.
We will update as new information becomes available and we will be open again as soon as possible.
We are delighted that our new delivery of Londji toys from Barcelona have just landed at the Malt Kiln. We love then for lots of reasons, but mostly because they are made from card.
Londji creates games and objects by mixing vintage and modern styles. Manufactured by using natural and recycled fabrics, these games will be a delight for children as well as for their parents.
Londji believe in 10 principles;
Imagination at its best
We claim the right to be kids regardless of our age
Playing is the best way to learn
We give toys the dignity they deserve
Playing is sharing your time with people you love
Toys deserve to feel beautiful too
We want to make a better world for our children
We play with everything but safety
We slow cook in Barcelona
Let’s be honest as our grandparents taught us.
Pop in soon to discover a world of toys, kaleidoscopes, puzzles, tattoos, finger puppets stacking toys – all designed for everyone aged 3 -103.
Collier Campbell Gifts now in stock
We are delighted to be stocking some beautiful new Collier Campbell gifts.
Collier Campbell was founded in the 1960s by sisters Susan Collier and Sarah Campbell. French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent used designs by Collier Campbell as the inspiration for his first ever ready-to-wear collection in 1971. Collier Campbell then went on to collaborate with many of the world’s top designers, retailers and manufacturers including Liberty, Habitat, Jaeger and Conran. The designs have won many awards and can be found in several museum collections featuring the best of modern design including the V&A Museum, London.
Collier Campbell designs are all hand painted and this gives them a fluidity and freshness that computer generated designs just can’t match. As well creating new designs for collections and products they have a wonderful design library that they use for inspiration by updating designs and colours.
Collier Campbell are passionate about colour and pattern and want their fabulous designs available on great quality products for everyone to enjoy. We have a range of beautiful scarves and toilet bags from Quintessential and a range of reed diffusers and candles hand made in Cumbria by Wax Lyrical.
One of my favourite scarves is the Florista Design a fine pure wool scarf with a vibrant mix of flowers and stripes in a rainbow of gorgeous colours. With a lightly fringed hem and generous length and width, it feels beautifully soft to wear as a scarf or a wrap and will add a pop of colour to any outfit. The scarfs come in a tissue-lined dove grey gift box, stamped with the iconic Bird on a Branch logo to make the most beautiful Christmas, birthday or anniversary present.
The range of home fragrance products include diffusers, glass filled candles and candle tins. Fragrances are Rose and Oud, Vanilla and Amber, Pomegranate and Cedarwood and Jasmine and Sandalwood. The fantastic fragrances of the candles are matched with designs that somehow capture the right mix of contemporary and vintage design.
Some people have started shopping for Christmas – if you haven’t, why not pop into the shop to see the new collection – you might be inspired!
